Questions and Answers

Are you replacing your People Finder*?

The People Finder has been a landmark for private, on-site paging. Our Engineers at Canamex have matched the QUIKPAGER Wireless radio signal performance to that of the People Finder. A special analog-to-digital converter program was built that allowed perfect digital encoder matching of the POCSAG radio signal. You can rest assured that QUIKPAGER will equal, if not exceed, the transmission performance of the People Finder.

Transmitting Power

The People Finder has an internal 2 or 4 Watt, synthesized transmitter.

QUIKPAGER Wireless is delivered with a 5 Watt, external synthesized transmitter in VHF or UHF.

Entry of messages

The People Finder has a numeric keypad. To transmit text messages, you would need to use a separate product such as the Alphamate.

QUIKPAGER Wireless is a self-contained paging terminal with a keyboard for continuous typing of text messages.

RS-232 serial interface

This option in the People Finder allowed input of text messages from a remote entry device such as the Alphamate and Nurse Call Systems.

QUIKPAGER Wireless is delivered with an RS-232 port to receive TAP messages from QUIKPAGER 2400, QUIKPAGER 3000, Nurse Call Systems and other external TAP devices.

Programming Pager IDs

In the People Finder, you need a Computer to program cap codes for groups of pager IDs.

In QUIKPAGER Wireless, the pager ID defines the type and the speed of the pager, so you can have a combination of numeric and alphanumeric pagers, no matter what the cap code numbers are. You can page thousands of pagers by simply typing a pager ID. You can also use a 200 or a 500 Name Directory to program a person's name with a pager ID. To page, you type the name of the person and the text of the message.

Telephone Line Interface for paging from any telephone

The People Finder has an option that allowed you to page form any telephone. QUIKPAGER Wireless is delivered with one telephone line interface that allows you to page from any touch-tone phone in the building. When QUIKPAGER answers the phone, the caller will hear voice prompts asking to enter the pager ID number and the telephone number where to be reached. In QUIKPAGER, you can page programmable canned text messages with a touch-tone telephone. You can add a 4-LVU unit if you need more telephone lines.

Answering calls from remote TAP entry devices via telephone

Another option in the People Finder is that it answers calls and receives TAP messages from remote entry devices.

QUIKPAGER is delivered with the a telephone line interface to answer calls from remote entry devices and receive TAP messages. QUIKPAGER can identify if the call is from a person or from a remote entry device to offer voice prompts or modem carrier.

Direct connection to a paging transmitter

If you are replacing a People Finder that is connected to a power transmitter, the change is easy. QUIKPAGER Wireless offers Push-To-Talk (PTT) and POCSAG output to drive the power transmitter.

If the transmitter is also used for radio voice transmission, QUIKPAGER can hold transmission until the voice channel is free.
